  10. Definition:

  12. The PCWRITE echo is for conversations concerning the following SHARED
  13. topics:
  14.  
  15.   PCWRITE: a Word Processor for the IBM and compatibles.
  16.  
  17.   Cross or Multi-Platform Computing: Any topic which concerns using two
  18.      or more computer types to acheive an end. Such topics include, but
  19.      are not limited to:
  20.  
  21.    * Graphic, text or other file conversions between Commodore, IBM,
  22.      Amiga, MAC, etc. platforms. Discussions on moving data to/from
  23.      other platforms.
  24.  
  25.    * The simultaneous use of different computing platforms when used
  26.      together in a networking situation.
  27.  
  28.    * Using one computer platform to emulate another.
  29.

  31. Echo Rules:

  33. The PCWRITE echo has the following rules which all participants are to
  34. read, AND FOLLOW when posting messages.

  37. Off Topic Messages:

  39.     When discussions do not directly involve PCWRITE or Multi-Platform
  40.     Computing they should be moved to another echo or Netmail.

  42. Piracy:
  43.  
  44.     Discussion of the illegal acquisition of commercial software is
  45.     forbidden and if flagrant may result in loss of access without
  46.     warning.
  47.  
  48. Language:

  50.     This echo is open to all gender and age groups. Profanity will not
  51.     be tolerated.
  52.  
  53. Tolerance:
  54.  
  55.     Practice tolerance.  Because this echo is shared, it is especially
  56.     important that all participants tolerate messages concerning topics
  57.     which they may or may not be interested in.
  58.  
  59.     Personal attacks (flames), test messages, or political postings are
  60.     not allowed in this conference. Do not respond to such messages in
  61.     this echo.

  63. Quoting:

  65.     Quote enough so others will know what is being discussed, but do
  66.     not quote excessively. Do not quote origin and signature lines.

  68. Tag lines and Signature lines:

  70.     Taglines and signatures are NOT to advertise any Commerical
  71.     Enterprise. You may include the name of your BBS and Phone Number
  72.     in the Signature or tagline.
  73.  
  74.     Control and High-ASCII characters (below CHR$(32) and above
  75.     CHR$127) are forbidden.
  76.  
  77.     Graphic signatures, borders and other characters which
  78.     unnecessarily add to the bulk of your post are discouraged.

  80. Aliases/Handles:

  82.     This is a REAL NAME only echo. If an Alias is used, the message
  83.     must be signed with your first and surname at the end of the
  84.     message. The Alias should be corrected as soon as possible.

  86. Subject lines:

  88.     Please put the subject being discussed in the message in the
  89.     subject line. This will assist readers who scan subject titles
  90.     looking for help on their particular topic/subject. This is
  91.     especially helpful considering that this echo has more than one
  92.     topic. Be considerate of those who share this echo with you.

  94.     A suggestion (not a "rule") is to use the following abbreviations
  95.     in the subject line, depending on the topic being discussed:

  97.     PW - PCWRITE topics
  98.     CP - Cross Platform topics
  99.     EM - Emulator topics

  101. Moderation:

  103.     The Moderator of the PCWRITE Echo is Gaelyne Moranec. Please direct
  104.     any suggestions or complaints concerning this echo to me via
  105.     NetMail at 1:366/221.128 or 3:800/809.128.

  107.     The moderator will usually reply to violations thru the echo
  108.     itself. This is because not all readers have access to netmail.
  109.     It is not intended to insult or embarrass any participant. If you
  110.     receive a reminder, you may reply in the echo, or by netmail, to
  111.     the address listed. Other users are asked NOT respond to "Official"
  112.     communications between the moderator and user.

  114.     Let the moderator do the moderating.

  116.     In the event of a conflict, the moderator's best judgement shall
  117.     prevail.
